Baseball Betting Officially Settled

In order to be official, a game must have a result that is either determined by the governing body of the sport or accepted by the sportsbook. In cases where a bet is not officially settled, the wager will be graded as a loss unless a sportsbook specifically states otherwise for reasons such as incorrect odds or a player’s stats changing retroactively after the game is over.

Most inning bets will stand as long as the relevant full or half inning has been completed. In the case of a ‘Highest Scoring Inning’ market, this will be settled using the 8.5 innings rule (unless dead heat rules apply).

Head-to-head player props will have action if the players are in the starting lineup and the game is played to its normal conclusion. This includes games that are shortened by weather and then resume the same day.

Full game moneylines become official if the game goes at least nine innings, or 6.5 innings if the home team is ahead after 8.5 innings. This also applies to playoff and postseason tournament games.

Player and other statistically dependent markets will only be settled once the game is official and the relevant statistics are available for settlement on the MLB’s official website or from an official statistical provider. In the event that a statistic/result required for settlement of a market is not available, any bets placed on that market will be void. The same applies to any futures bets that are based on the season’s standings, which will only be settled when the official results are released.
